Duo Elégance - David Friedman (vibes) & Peter Weniger (sax)
In their new Duo, Elégance, David Friedman's vibes and Peter Weniger's tenor saxophone fuse to creat an exotic and sensual new sound combination.
Their dedication to giving in the moment evokes the unequaled excitement of spontaneous creation.
Both David Friedman and Peter Weniger are major figures in contemporary jazz.
David Friedman, famous vibraphone and marimba player, is also an outstanding composer. He is professor of jazz in Berlin, where in 1989 he established the first jazz department at the Berlin University
of Arts. These days Friedman teaches at the Jazz Institute Berlin, gives workshops worldwide and performs internationally. Collaborations with the geatest names in Jazz, such as Wayne Shorter, Bobby Macferrin, Chet Baker, make him one of the most important vibraphonists of his time.
Internationally renowned saxophone player Peter Weniger achieved numerous jazz awards in and outside of Germany. He is often featured in international concerts and festivals as a soloist. He has played and recorded with Maceo Parker, John Abercrombie, Adam Nussbaum and many others. Weniger is
professor for jazz in Berlin and artistic director of the Jazz Institute Berlin.
Friedman and Weniger have recorded a CD which will be released early 2010 at Skip Records. We are currently working on the album release tour. Friedman/Weniger are available for concerts in March/April 2010.
Friedman and Weniger collaborate with Colombian percussionist Samuel Torres, for further information about this project called Crossing please have a look here.
