Kiran Ahluwalia's new album wins Canadian Folk Music Award

On her latest CD, »Aam Zameen:Common Ground«, Indo-Canadian Kiran Ahluwalia successfully merges her contemporary Indian song with Saharan desert blues. In this captivating new recording she collaborates with the legendary Tinariwen. With this new album, Juno-winner Kiran Ahluwalia just achieved the CFMA Award for the »Best Solo World Music Album of the Year 2011«! Congratulations!

Jelena Jakubovitch represented by The Red House

After her wonderful showcase at WOMEX 2011, we are happy to let you know that from now on we represent the Russian singer Jelena Jakubovitch exclusively in Europe. Jelena Jakubovitch and her musicians - amoung them accordion virtuoso Lelo Nika - are based in Sweden and they are available for concerts all year. Right now, we are working on dates for the spring and the summer period.

Lila Downs - available for concerts in April

Mexican singer Lila Downs has just released her first album at Sony Music. She will come to Europe in March/April to present her new album.

Matuto invited to Accordeon Festival in Vienna

After performing at WOMEX 2011, Matuto got invited to perform at the Akkordeon Festival in Vienna on March 22. We are looking for addtional dates in March.

The Creaking Tree String Quartet

The wonderful Creaking Tree String Quartet, which had just been nominated for the Canadian Folk Music Awards, will not continue the band. We are sad to hear this news, and we would like to thank them for their great music!

Welcome back Lal!

Toronto's underground artists Lal are back at our artist roster with a new empowering, inspiring, danceable, lovable album!

This also brings us back to our roots: The first concert The Red House organized was a small showcase for Lal in Berlin. This also reminds us to the reason why we set up this booking agency: We wanted to work with artists who we truly believe have something to say, whether lyrically or musically, each in their own indvidual way.

Lal is not just a band. They are a group who are committed to issues of social justice. They speak to a wide audience from folks of colour, to queer folks to electronic club headz to hip hop and soul headz to folk, jazz and international music lovers.

We are proud to have them back here and we are starting booking performances for March and Summer 2012 now!

New Artists at The Red House Agency

We are happy to announce that we represent some wonderful new artists, and we are looking forward to introducing them to the European market:

Finest Scottish-Celtic acoustic music by Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas;

Mexican-Paraguyan harp and strings by the Celso Duarte Ensemble. Celso Duarte is known in Europe from numerous live performances with Lila Downs, and who is currently collaborating with the Carnegie Hall in New York;

Mexican jazz singer and Grammy nominee Magos Herrera;

German-Vietnamese Lao Xao Trio re-arranging and performing Vietnamese folk music.

Matuto will perform at WOMEX 2011

It will be their first gig in Europe: Matuto, the Brazilian bluegrass band of accordionist Rob Curto and guitarist Clay Ross has been chosen by the WOMEX jury to perform in Copenhagen 2011. More concerts will announced shortly!

Sofia Rei - first concerts in Portugal

We are proud to announce that Sofia Rei will come with her trio to Europe. In July, the Argentine singer will present her album »Sube Azul« which has achieved the Independent Music Award 2011 in the category »World Beat«. Sofia has been invited by the festival »Tom de Festa« in Tondela, where she will perform with her trio. Further concerts will be in Lisboa and Vila Real.

New Artists at The Red House:

The Klezmatics, Mighty Popo, The Creaking Tree String Quartet

We are happy to announce our collaboration with the Grammy Award winning world music superstars The Klezmatics. The Red House represents the globally renowned New York based group in Germany, Austria and German speaking Switzerland. The Klezmatics will be available for concerts in August and November 2011 and for a tour in March 2012. For more information go their artist page

With Mighty Popo from Rwanda we represent for the first time an artist whose music is steeped in African tradition. Mighty Popo lives in Canada and Rwanda and has just released his wonderful acoustic album »Gakondo«. He is currently nominated for an Independent Music Award 2011 and a Juno Award 2011, let's keep fingers crossed!. Mighty Popo is available with his acoustic trio for concerts in Fall 2011 and in 2012.

Also the The Creaking Tree string Quartet from Toronto got two more Juno Award nominations in 2011 after earning one for their debut album in 2003. The band has achieved many awards in the past years, see details here. We are very happy to bring them to Europe for the first time. The band is available for concerts in Fall 2011.

We are very happy to present our new website! You will also find two new artists in our roster:

Matuto, a stunning live band that creates a new sound: »Brazilian Bluegrass«. Matuto's CD will be released by Galileo Music in May 2011, and the band will tour in June/July to promote the album.

Sofia Rei Koutsovitis, a passionate, charismatic and very impressive singer originally from Argentina, living in New York. Sofia is currently part of John Zorn's vocal project. The quartet will be performing in Austria, Italy and Slovenia this fall. Sofia is available for gigs in August and Fall 2011.
