»Everybody talks about world music, but who has a real understanding of the musical tradition of the peoples of the Far East? All the more fascinating, amazing and sometimes even confusing is it to follow the musical expeditions the Dresden Lao Xao Trio makes through an acoustic and emotional unexplored borderland between Vietnamese folklore and Western jazz, between sophisticated prog-rock structures and free improvisation.
A bit of a spirit of adventure belongs to it as well as a sharpened sense, if one wants to follow the three musical explorers. Unexpected insight in exotic sound spaces are the reward.
